Highlight | Japanese A5 Wagyu Strip |

When we visited Flemings Prime Steakhouse at Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, CA, the timing worked in our favor. We arrived in the late afternoon, just before the dinner rush, so the restaurant was fairly quiet with plenty of open seating. It gave us the chance to relax and settle in without the usual bustle you’d expect at a steakhouse of this caliber.
Right from the start, I appreciated the little touches. The welcome bread was warm and soft, and it came with two types of butter, which was a nice detail that felt thoughtful rather than routine. It set the tone for the rest of the meal — polished, but not overdone. The calm atmosphere, paired with the comfortable setting, made it feel like we had the whole place to ourselves, and it was the perfect lead-in to the courses ahead.

SWEET CORN BRÛLÉE
Cost: $18
Fleming’s Sweet Corn Brûlée was a surprising indulgence and easily shareable at $18. Unlike the classic crème brûlée I’m used to, this version had a rich, creamy base infused with sweet corn that gave it a unique twist. The caramelized sugar topping added the familiar crunch, but the subtle corn flavor made it stand out as both comforting and unexpected.

CABERNET FILET
Cost $34
6 oz hand-cut filet mignon topped with danish blue cheese butter over cabernet demi-glace, sautéed spinach, campari tomato. This came in the lunch prix fixe. I selected the Mushroom Brie Soup.

JAPANESE A5 WAGYU STRIP
Cost $140
Served as a 4oz portion, it arrived rare with a small presentation on a sizzling hot stone, allowing us to sear each slice to our liking. The marbling made every bite rich and buttery.
Final Thoughts of Flemings Steakhouse
Overall, Fleming’s at Stanford Shopping Center delivered a solid dining experience. The service stood out the most. Our servers checked in often without being overbearing, which made the meal feel attentive and well-paced. The portion sizes were just right, leaving us satisfied but not overly full. A sweet surprise came at the end when they presented a small box of truffles alongside the receipt. It was a thoughtful touch, and the truffles themselves were rich and delicious — the perfect way to close out the meal.
